Environmental Coordinator
Environmental Team Opportunity | Tier 1 Quarry Operation | Hunter Region NSW
At Hunter Quarries, we are seeking a dedicated Environment Coordinator (ECo) to join our Environment & Development department. This pivotal role is responsible for coordinating environmental management and compliance activities, managing civil and sustainability projects, and supporting project approvals across various sites within the Hunter Quarries group.
Reporting directly to the Environment & Development Manager, you will be the driving force behind our Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensure our operations remain at the forefront of industry standards.
Key Responsibilities

Environmental Monitoring: Accountable for all monitoring activities, including air quality, blasting, noise, surface/groundwater, and weather station data.

Sustainability & Improvement: Lead business improvement projects, including the management of ISO 14001 Certification.

Strategic Execution: Review and revise environmental management plans and implement a functional, best-practice EMS.

Water & Land Management: Manage erosion and sediment control (ESC) measures, water treatment, and biodiversity offset areas.

Reporting: Draft all monitoring reports, annual returns, and reviews for government and regulatory authorities.
- Team Leadership: Supervise the Refuelling & Environment Assistant and manage a multi-disciplinary team of contractors and consultants.
Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will need:

A Tertiary Qualification in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.

2–3 years of experience within the mining, quarrying, infrastructure, or construction industries.

Demonstrated ability to operate safely in both field and office environments.

Strong data management, report writing, and communication skills.

Proven experience in managing simple projects and diverse stakeholders.

Desirable: A Diploma in Project Management or prior supervisory experience.
